There are many differences between dye ink and pigment ink,the difference in performance determines the range of application of the two inks.Knowing the difference will be of great help when we choose and buy ink in the future. Next, I will introduce the difference between the two in detail.
1. Ink particle size is different
The dye colorant in dye ink is completely dissolved in ink in the form of a single molecule. Its colorant particles are small, and has a large number of hydrophilic particles, easily soluble in water or other chemical solvents.Dye water-based ink is a fully soluble molecular ink, usually particle size 1~2 nm in diameter.
Pigment inks are dispersions made up of particles, whose minimum particle size is much larger than the diameter of dye molecules, ranging from nanometer to micrometer. The nano-scale particle size is 40-125 nm on average, the maximum particle size shall not exceed 180 nm, and the micron scale particle size is 0.125-0.300 micron.
Pigment particles, it is easy to clog the nozzle, so that the printing image color is not good, not bright. The dye particles are small,so its printing image color is very bright and vivid, and it is not easy to clog the nozzle, even if it is clogging, dredge nozzle is also relatively simple.
2.Different water solubility
Water based dye ink is generally water-soluble ink; Pigment inks are insoluble in water, so they need to be finely dispersed before they can be used.
3. Different waterproof performance
There are a large number of hydrophilic particles in dye colorants, which are easy to dissolve. In this way, once the printed paper is stained with water, the original fixed in the medium of the colorant will be dissolved again, and with the flow of water to the surrounding diffusion, causing serious smudge.
Pigment insoluble in water, printing paper encountered water resistance is strong.
